Marneus Calgar, Master of the Ultramarines

Any Ultramarine army that is over 2,000 points in total can be led by Marneus, who counts as one of the HQ choices for the army. He uses the following Wargear and may not be given any additional equipment. He may only be used in a battle where both players have agreed to the use of special characters.

Wargear: Gauntlets of Ultramar, frag & krak grenades, Terminator honours (bonus included above), bionics and artificer armour.

Special Rules

Gauntlets of Ultramar: The Gauntlets of Ultramar take the form of a pair of power fists, each with a built-in bolter. The gauntlets are worn as a pair so Marneus receives an extra Attack dice in close combat. The gauntlets' bolters fire together with the same effect as a storm bolter.

Never Falls Back: Marneus never falls back. If called upon to take a Fall Back test he automatically passes it without the dice needing to be rolled. If attacked by a weapon or creature that causes troops to fall back without a test, then the instructions to fall back are ignored. The also applies to any unit led by Marneus.

Independent Character: Unless accompanied by a Command squad, Marneus is an independent character and follows the Independent Character special rules in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

Command Squad: Marneus may be accompanied by a Command squad, see the special entry in the army list. Note that Marneus and his Command squad count as a single HQ choice.
