Combat Formations

Imperial Armour I illustrates a number of suggested tank squadron formations. This is the first of them.

Squadron Advancing in Wedge

This is the classic aggressive attack formation, providing excellent firepower to the forward arc and support for the lead tank.

Usually used by the centre squadron when the company is attacking, with the left and right squadrons in echelon formation to extend the sides of the wedge.

If accompanied by mechanised infantry, then the Chimeras will usually form the centre of the wedge.

The accompanying diagram shows three tanks advancing in a wedge, with the lead tank at the point and two trailing tanks covering the flanks; all three cover their own forward arcs as they advance.
